AP, Router,and Ethernet Client Modes
The AP is compliant with 802.11g standard.  So you can run your wireless network at 54Mbps or remain backward compatible with legacy 802.11b standard also.  The AP features a mode switch selector on the bottom of the housing.  Users can flip the switch and choose between the AP, Router, or Ethernet Client modes.  When the WL-5480PAP is in AP mode, it connects PC and wireless device so they can share data together.  With the 802.1x radius authentication function, it can even be used in hotspot applications.  When you need the AP to function as an Internet Sharing device, simply flip the selector to "Router" mode.  Now, the Ethernet port turns into a WAN for connection to ADSL/Cable modem.  Then many computers can share the Internet connection wireless.  Last, but most the least.  When you need add wireless connectivity to any PC or Network Device, simply choose the Ethernet client mode.  Then all you need to do is plug in your PC and Network device to the LAN port, and they are instantly connected to the wireless network.
